Louis
graduated from Cleveland-Marshall Law School in 1953, and Carl from the
same school in 1956. In 1957, they formed the partnership of Stokes and
Stokes. Three years after the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education
(1954) they joined the growing number of African-American lawyers who
embraced law not only as a career but as a means of changing a nation.
Louis and Carl’s legal foundations set in motion the political achievements
that were to follow. |
