< “School Board Sit In” Picture File, WRHS.

On February 2, 1964, protesters organized a sit-in at the headquarters of the Cleveland School Board. The individuals sitting on the floor protested against segregated schools in Cleveland, Ohio. The policemen in the background of the picture forcibly removed the protesters from the building by throwing them down the stairway. Louis Stokes represented the protesters in court.
